This shutdown is now on day 25 (as of January 16, 2019) – the longest in U.S. history
Here’s latest information and developments about the shutdown.
The Shutdown Rundown…
In case you missed it:
Over two thousand union members, federal employees and every day Americans rallied and marched on the White House in Washington, D.C. last week. That was just one of dozens of events organized by our union across the nation where AFGE members stood up, told their story, and demanded an end to the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Watch the full DC rally on AFGE’s Facebook page.
Action of the Day:
Please call both of your Senators at (866) 803-8830 and tell them to pass the House package, including funding for 6 of 7 appropriations bills, the continuing resolution for the Department of Homeland Security, and a 1.9% raise for all federal workers.

Legislative Update:
Currently, the only plan to reopen the government that has passed either house of Congress is a plan that includes funding for 6 of 7 appropriations bills, the continuing resolution for the Department of Homeland Security, and a 1.9% raise for all federal workers. Unfortunately, Leader McConnell in the Senate will not allow a vote on this plan.
With 800,000 federal workers left wondering how to pay their bills and when their next paycheck might arrive, it is time for Leader McConnell to stop the shutdown and call the vote.
Please call your Senators today, we must put pressure on every Senator to insist Leader McConnell calls the vote, and that your Senators vote to open our government immediately, (866) 803-8830.
