In Memoriam

Marilyn J Wigdahl
 December 16, 1931
October 25, 2021

Marilyn worked tirelessly on behalf of the union movement for decades. She was a President of AFSCME 1449 and Vice President of the WWAFL-CIO, & she served her community as a La Crosse City Councilwoman. Her daughter (Sue Beil) is one of only two females to hold the office of president of the WWAFLCIO, and her son-in-law (Marty Beil) rose to prominence as a state and national leader in the public employee union movement. Marilyn was first a delegate to the council, later she was one of the original six who were bestowed the title of “Honorary Delete” to the WWAFLCIO.

Marilyn Wigdahl

Note: By motion and policy of the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO the title of ‘honorary delegate’ is bestowed on someone by the Council for substantial union supportive actions and/or strong long-term dedication and service to the labor movement. Council policy states that Honorary Delegates may attend meetings and social functions of the Council but may not vote on motions. Honorary Delegates are not eligible to serve as voting officers of the Council.
