The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO (WWAFLCIO) will celebrate Labor Day on Monday, September 7th, 10am-2:45pm. Kids activities include a “fishing” booth, temporary tattoos, and a “hidden” money sawdust pile. LaborFest is free and open to the public. There will also be Tool/Equipment Raffles, BINGO, and a 50-50 Raffle!

Labor Day in La Crosse kicks off with a family-friendly parade that spans 10-12 blocks. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. at the corner of Gillette and Kane Streets on the north side of La Crosse. After the parade, the festivities move to the Loggers’ Concessions Area in Copeland Park, with free games for kids. Adults can participate in bingo, raffles, and plentiful comradery opportunities. Loggers’ Concessions staff will offer soda, beer, brats, hot dogs, burgers, and snacks for purchase.
The change in the location of post-parade festivities is due to construction at the north end of Copeland Park.
Notice regarding food and beverage tokens sold in past years by the WWAFLCIO: Such tokens will NOT be accepted as payment for food or beverages in 2026. Refunds for old tokens/coupons will NOT be available on Labor Day 2026. Going forward the WWAFLCIO will decide whether to continue to use Copeland Ballpark for festivities or return to the Northend of Copeland in 2027. If the ballpark is chosen on a permanent basis the WWAFLCIO will set a period of time in the future where individuals can obtain refunds for old tokens and coupons purchased previously. If the council decides to return to the Northend of Copeland in 2027 then past tokens/coupons will be redeemable for food/beverages if the council returns festivities to the Northend of the park.
Parade Rule Change for 2026: If your union is affiliated with the WWAFLCIO and/or has made a 2026 donation to the WWAFLCIO 2026 Parade Fund feel free to line up anywhere starting with Spot 9. Same goes for a non-profit or for-profit business or organization feel free to line up wherever you d like starting with Spot 9 provided your organization has donated to the 2026 WWAFLCIO Parade Fund. If, however, your group is an unaffiliated union, non-profit, or for-profit business that has not donated to the 2026 WWAFLCIO Parade Fund you made still participate but are required to line up at the very end of the parade. WWAFLCIO Delegate Willie Rommel (IW 383) (first) & Exec Board member Tom Hawko (BLET 13) (second) oversee parade organization and traffic control. Willie and/or Tom have the final word on all parade disputes (unless police jurisdiction applies).
