The USPS Fairness Act (H.R. 2382) passed the House of Representatives late on Wednesday with a huge two-thirds majority.

A bipartisan vote of this size could not have happened without your work and the work of hundreds of thousands of people just like you across the country. The message is clear. Our elected leaders must take the unfair prefunding mandate off of the back of the USPS.

Let’s savor this win, but we must remember that there is more work to do. We need all of our strength to get the USPS Fairness Act’s companion bill, S. 2965 passed in the Senate. That’s why we are organizing a nationwide call-in day on Feb. 25.

The infamous prefunding mandate was passed in 2006. It forces the USPS to pay now for retiree benefits as far as 75 years into the future. Passing this legislation in the House gets us closer to the goal of ending the manufactured financial crisis. But the work doesn’t end there.

On Feb. 25 we will flood the phones in our Senators’ offices and ask them to become a cosponsor of S. 2965.
Thousands of us called in during our initial day of action on H.R. 2382. Every member of the House of Representatives was contacted. Many Congresspeople signed on to the bill as a result.

We are confident we can duplicate that success and build support for S. 2965, but we need your help!

Will you join the nationwide Senate call-in day on Feb 25? Sign up here and then share it with your friends and family.

Together, we will secure a bright future for our public Postal Service.
