The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO is pleased to announce the return of our annual Kids Free Fishing Day in 2021. The 9th annual Kids Free Fishing Day will be held on Saturday June 5th at Chad Erickson Memorial Park in La Crosse. The Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO is teaming up with Union Sportsmen’s Alliance’s (USA) Boots on the Ground conservation program to host the Annual Take Kids Fishing Day.

Fishing poles with reels, bait, light picnic-style sealed snacks and drinks will be provided but participants must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or chaperone.

The first 125 children registered to attend and attending (aged 2-17) will receive a fishing rod, reel and an outdoors goodie bag courtesy of the Western Wisconsin AFL-CIO, Union Sportsmen’s Alliance, and Humana. For the ninth year Ace Hardware of La Crosse has donated the bait.

The event is free but advanced registration is highly recommended.

Over 950 children and their parents have attended this event in the event’s first eight years. Since the event coincides with Wisconsin DNR’s “Free Fishing Weekend”; adults won’t need licenses to join their children and fish on the 5th.

For more information about the WWAFLCIO Take Kids Fishing Day or to find out how you can help or donate prizes, contact Mike Davis Jr at 608-799-1313 or  president@westernwisconsinaflcio.org .

Face coverings are optional for the event, please bring a covering if you’d like to use one.
